Campaign for Nonviolent Schools to Lead March in Support of Education Funding

On March 30th, 2011, the Campaign for Nonviolent Schools will mobilize a march to fund our schools, not prisons. We extend this call to everyone invested in public education in our city; students, parents, workers and anyone who wants the best for their communities.

The purpose of this mobilization is to call for the state to invest in education, not incarceration. The proposed state budget cuts to our schools will only funnel more students into the school to prison pipeline. It will also cut much needed jobs and services from our schools. This is while there is a proposed 11% increase in prison spending in Pennsylvania. Young people across the city are organizing a nonviolent movement for equity and fairness in our schools. Join them in making clear what our state's priorities need to be.
