Brave New Voices 2010 on HBO
Tune into HBO on Saturday, October 23 at 11 p.m. EST to see the Brave New Voices (BNV) 2010 competition, and amazing poetry from young poets all over the country including New York, Denver, San Francisco, Albuquerque, Philadelphia, Ft. Lauderdale, Los Angeles, and more.
In July, 13 youth from Philadelphia traveled with PYPM to Los Angeles, CA, to participate in the 13th Annual Brave New Voices Teen Poetry Festival & Slam. Six of those youth comprised the Philadelphia Youth Slam Team that competed in a series of competitive poetry slams. The team placed second in their semi-final bout, behind the team from New York City (UrbanWordNYC) who went on to become the 2010 Grand Slam Champions. However, PYPM was invited to perform "Chamber Music" on Final Stage as sacrifical poets in the Grand Slam (an amazing performance!).
PYPM is proud of Anwar, Ceez, Kavi, Jamillah, Sinnea & Yusef and their talent, growth and inspiring contributions to The Movement, BNV and the poetry community as a whole.
