PYPM Welcomes Carvens Lissaint as a Workshop Leader on Sat., Oct. 23

Carvens Lissaint is no stranger to the poetry community, or to the Philly Youth Poetry Movement. PYPM welcomes Carvens as he will lead a Free Writing Workshop on Saturday, October 23, from 12-3 p.m. at the Science Leadership Academy.

Carvens Lissaint is a young performance artist a native from Haiti and from Harlem, New York. He first established himself as a spoken word artist in the year of 2006. He then went on to wining multiple poetry slams in the tri state area; he was the 2007 Grand Slam Champion of the highly acclaimed New York Knicks Poetry Slam, 2008 and 2009 Urban Word Poetry Finalist, he was on the 2008 Newark, NJ slam team that placed 6th in the Brave New Voices National poetry competition, 2009 Slam Global Grand Slam Champion, and has won poetry slams in various venues including the Bowery Poetry Club and the famous Nuyorican Poets Cafe.
