Nationally Ranked Poet, Ms. Wise, will lead PYPM Workshop on Sat., Oct. 30
PYPM Mentor and nationally ranked slam poet, Ms. Wise, will lead the PYPM Free Writing Workshop on Saturday, October 30, from noon to 3 p.m. at Science Leadership Academy, 22nd & Arch Streets. As co-coach of the 2010 Philly Youth Slam Team, Ms. Wise is experienced in helping young poets broaden their craft and potential as artists.
Currently the 5th ranked female poet in the world, Alyesha "MS. WISE" Wise is a Spoken Word Artist, Community & Youth Activist from the City of Camden, New Jersey. Born, Alyesha Wise, this 2008 & 2009 Philadelphia Slam Champion has been gracing stages from Boston to Detroit, and beyond in hopes of impacting the world through the Power of Words. In addition, she has opened for artists such as Universal Recording Artists, The Flobots to Hip Hop Legend, Wise Intelligent.
Ms. Wise's inspiration stems from her own personal battles growing up as a "wild teen" in a poverty stricken, violent community. Since transitioning her life at the age of eighteen, she vowed to use her gift of writing to contribute towards the growth of the African American Community, the youth, and all people. Other than being a slam champion, her list of credentials include, but aren't limited to: First female winner of Baltimore's "Last Poet Standing," Co-host of Jus Words (Philadelphia's longest running poetry venue), two-time Women of the World Poetry Slam finalist, Director of Education for "The Lyrical Playground" and Co-Founder, "Pussies, Pens & Politics."
